We wanted a nice built-in for the den in our new house, and have always been fond of butcher block countertops, so we decided to build around the Hammarp (nee Numerar?) oak offering from Ikea. Our floors are also of oak. The original plan was to build the piece around Ikea kitchen cabinets as the base storage units, but in the end we felt that the MDF finish of the cabinets would clash with the white wood trim, and make it feel less well thought out. And of course, the cabinets would still have been MDF… with all the usual associated cons. We sketched up a plan, taking into account the…

Enhance Your Child’s Learning Experience with Play Tables If you run an early childhood center, you know that children learn and develop their skills in different ways. Our search for juvenile furniture is continually guided by this knowledge. Our play tables for example are designed to enhance…

In today’s workplace, the open office is ubiquitous. The idea of an open plan was originally intended to foster teamwork and encourage creative thinking, but the downside is the potential for distraction and lack of privacy. Of course, workers need to interact with one another, but when you’re constantly in the presence of your co-workers, sometimes it can feel like just too much contact. Too Much Noise The main complaint of workers who are in open plan offices is noise – because there are so many people in the office, and there are no walls, you can’t help but overhear conversations…

  • Hackers Help: IKEA Fredde Desk Vs Suggestions?

Hi, I am looking into becoming a YouTube Gamer and need a suitable desk. I have about 4ft of space to work with and a budget of around £100 but it can be stretched for the right desk. I found the Fredde desk recently and at first thought it looked amazing! Upon closer research with other threads and forums people did mention it looked cramped and I kind of agree. Also I may have to remove the speaker side panels to make it fit which is kind of a bummer. So my question to you is this: Do I invest in Fredde Workstation as its the best I’ve seen or does anyone have a better suggestion ??

Materials: ANGENÄM dish I wanted a low profile light fixture over my breakfast room table so that it didn’t block the line of vision from the kitchen to the breakfast room. I had it in my mind that I wanted a black fixture with a gold underside but, after seeing the prices for fixtures that fit the description of what I wanted, I had to get creative. I looked at the IKEA ANGENÄM dish on my coffee table and the light bulb over my head lit up! The process to change the dish to a light fixture was VERY simple. All we had to do was purchase a light kit that could be hard wired from a big…

Photo: IKEA.com We are planning our kids’ bedrooms and would like to combine a desk given that they are 6 and 9 and hence will require them. We like the idea of a ‘bunk’ bed with the desk and bed sharing the same area but don’t like the idea of the bed on top and would like to plan something with the bed on the bottom and the desk on top.  The height of the room is 3.2m so there should be ample space for that.  Also the space available for this bed/desk is about the space of a double bed. Has anyone done this before or are there any ideas you can give us to help with…

You no doubt have enough basic office supplies, like rubber bands, staples and paper clips, but think about how much time you spend in your office – it’s usually a minimum of eight hours a day! Doesn’t it make sense that you should have a few other things stashed away, just in case of emergency? Why not dedicate a drawer to other things that could make your life easier at work? Food If you have to work late, or you forget to bring lunch, a little stash of munchables can make life a lot easier. What to Do When People Keep Borrowing Your Desk Chair People can feel incredibly proprietary when it comes to workplace items that are owned by the company, but which they nonetheless consider to be “theirs.” This is especially true of the office chair, and it may be due largely to the fact that many office chairs can be difficult to adjust. People take them, adjust them to suit their specific needs, and then return them that way – if they return them at all. If you’re sick and tired of having to go on a mission to find and rescue your office chair time after time, there are a few…
